THE PLAYERS Profiles: Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Rose and Min Woo Lee

With four weeks to go until the strongest field in golf reconvenes at TPC Sawgrass, THE PLAYERS Championship sets the stage for the 2025 event by profiling four of the biggest international names in the sport who are among the favorites to create their Defining Moment en route to hoisting THE PLAYERS trophy.

Adam Scott

2004 PLAYERS Champion Adam Scott will soon return to a familiar venue in TPC Sawgrass for his 23rd start in the event. The Australian first debuted at THE PLAYERS in 2002, missing the cut, but went on to win the event just two years later where he made a 10-foot bogey putt to win on the 72nd hole at age 23, becoming the youngest PLAYERS champion in history – a record broken 13 years later by Si Woo Kim. The 44-year-old has made an undeniable name for himself as a statesman of the game, notching 14 career PGA TOUR titles including the 2013 Masters; representing the Presidents Cup International Team 11 times; and winning 14 other titles internationally throughout his career. Scott has made two PGA TOUR starts this season, finishing in the top 25 in both instances (T15/The Sentry; T22/AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am).

Hideki Matsuyama

Japan-native Hideki Matsuyama returns to THE PLAYERS Championship for his 10th appearance, looking to improve upon a career-best fifth-place finish recorded in 2023 – one of four top 10s in the event. Matsuyama finished the 2024 season ranked No. 9 in the FedExCup and currently has 11 consecutive finishes inside the top 50 in the FedExCup, the longest active streak on TOUR. The 32-year-old has made five starts this season, highlighted by his victory at The Sentry, the first event of the PGA TOUR’s Opening Drive, marking his 11th career TOUR title.

Justin Rose

Eleven-time TOUR winner Justin Rose returns to THE PLAYERS as he looks to enter the winner’s circle for the first time in his 20th appearance, where he’s notched three top-10 finishes (T6/2023; T8/2019; T4/2014). In addition to his 11 wins, which includes the 2013 U.S. Open, he won the Gold Medal in the 2016 Olympic Games, the 2018 FedExCup, and represented Europe six times in the Ryder Cup. Currently ranked No. 36 in the OWGR, Rose looks to add his name to a long list of past champions at THE PLAYERS.

Min Woo Lee

Still in search of his maiden PGA TOUR win, 26-year-old Min Woo Lee spent much of the 2024 season knocking on the door of the winner’s circle. Lee recorded two T2 finishes in 2024 as a first-year TOUR member (T2/Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches; T2 Rocket Classic). He debuted at THE PLAYERS in 2023 where he finished T6 – one of four top-10 finishes that season. The Australian began this season at the Hero Dubai Classic on the DP World Tour in January (T17) before making his TOUR debut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where he finished T17. The 2025 event marks Lee’s third consecutive appearance at TPC Sawgrass (T6/2023; T54/2024)
