With three weeks until the strongest field in golf reconvenes at TPC Sawgrass, THE PLAYERS Championship sets the stage for the 2025 event by showcasing four of the biggest names in the sport who are among the favorites to create their Defining Moment en route to hoisting THE PLAYERS trophy.

Justin Thomas

THE PLAYERS 2021 Champion Justin Thomas returns for his 10th career start at TPC Sawgrass, seeking to become one of eight multiple winners in the event's 50-year history. Thomas’ PLAYERS win – which featured a tournament-record 12-under 132 on the weekend – put the Kentucky native in an elite group of just four players since 1960 to notch his 14th victory before his 28th birthday (Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller and Tiger Woods). The 31-year-old now owns 15 PGA TOUR victories, including PGA Championship titles in 2017 and 2022. Currently ranked 8th in the FedExCup standings, Thomas has recorded three top-10s in five starts this year, including a season-best runner-up finish at The American Express.

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa is in search of his first TOUR win since the 2023 Baycurrent Classic and will look to add THE PLAYERS Championship to his list of prestigious titles. The Californian returns to THE PLAYERS Championship for his fifth appearance, looking to improve on his previous best finish at TPC Sawgrass (T13/2023), where he sat in solo-second through 18 holes after an opening 65. The 28-year-old is currently 11th in the FedExCup after opening his 2025 season with a second-place finish at The Sentry, followed by two top-20 efforts at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational.

Max Homa

In 2024, six-time PGA TOUR winner Max Homa Homa recorded three top-10s, highlighted by a T3 finish at the Masters. He qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs for the fifth consecutive season and finished No. 46 in the standings after advancing to the BMW Championship. The 34-year-old has made five starts this season with his best finish recorded at The Sentry (T26). The California-native is making his fifth consecutive start at THE PLAYERS Championship where he seeks to capture his first victory at TPC Sawgrass (best finish: T6/2023).

Rickie Fowler

One of golf’s most affable stars, THE PLAYERS 2015 Champion Rickie Fowler is set to make his 14th start at TPC Sawgrass. Fowler won in dramatic fashion in the tournament’s first ever three-hole aggregate playoff with Kevin Kisner and Sergio Garcia, outlasting the pair to win his second career PGA TOUR win. Now, 10 years later, the 36-year-old owns six career TOUR wins and enters THE PLAYERS Championship looking to become a multiple champion of the event and re-enter the winner’s circle for the first time since the 2023 Rocket Classic.
